Promoting a Podcast Episode on Threads with New Cards
2026-10-27
"Is Threads worth a post when my swap partner's episode goes out?" Maybe, now that a link to your episode can show up as a card instead of a bare URL. Treat it as one more place to say the same thing, not a plan on its own.
Social Media Today reported on September 16, 2026 that Threads is adding podcast tools. Here is the list from that article.
What was announced
- banners that show your podcast's logo and information on your profile and on posts
- an episode picker, so you can highlight one specific episode
- podcast links that appear as tappable cards
- transcript, video and guest cards (the coverage gives little detail on how the video and guest cards work)
- opt-in reminders, for you and your guests, to share a new episode
- saved episodes for listeners
- Podcast Insights, with data on reach and audience response, including engagement, clicks and saves
The article does not say which countries get this, how fast it rolls out, or whether every account type sees it. So open Threads on your own account before you promise a partner anything.
Why it matters for a swap
Someone who sees a mention has a few seconds to act on it. A tappable card shortens that path. The episode picker helps too: you can point people at the single episode you want them to start with. For the wider reasoning behind mentions between shows, see how cross promos help grow an audience.
The reminders matter for a plainer reason. Swaps tend to stall between "yes, let's do it" and the day someone remembers to post. An opt-in nudge for you and your guest covers part of that gap.
A plan for one shared episode
- Agree on the episode with your partner before either of you records. One episode, one link, used by both shows.
- Turn on the banner and pick the episode on your profile ahead of release day, so the profile is not half set up when people arrive.
- Post the link on release day as a card. Write one sentence on why this episode, in words from the episode itself, not a slogan.
- Ask your partner to post the same link. If a guest was involved, ask them to do it too and try the guest card together once, because the coverage does not describe how it behaves.
- Check Podcast Insights a few days later for clicks and saves, then compare with your host's episode stats.
Where this stops working
Clicks and saves in Threads tell you what people did inside Threads. They do not tell you who then pressed play. A bump in plays on release day could come from the post, the episode itself or anything else you published that week.
Also, a card only helps if there is something behind it. A thin episode page with a vague description wastes the click. The same goes for a profile with no banner and a pinned post from last spring.
None of this settles whether your partner's audience would like your show. The card carries the link. It does not choose the partner.
